Mission Statement for the Simulation Learning Center (SLC)

Enhance safe, effective, evidence based practice for health science students, faculty, clinical staff and community partners through innovative simulation based learning.

Vision Statement for the SLC.

  1. Simulation-based practice is integral to the development of clinical expertise.
  2. Student and faculty accessibility to the SLC is essential to meet SLC goals.
  3. Pedagogical approaches are based on a philosophy of sharing and evidence based practice while embracing innovative advances in simulation techniques.
  4. Collaboration related to simulation learning is recognized as essential. Collaboration may occur at the following levels:
    1. Between CoN Faculty, staff and students.
    2. Interdisciplinary within the University.
    3. With partners in the global community.
  5. SLC learning environment provides State of the Art equipment, multi-use space, adaptable surroundings, and is environmentally responsible.
  6. Electronic information management is an integral part of critical thinking and decision making.
  7. Simulation learning moves students beyond skill acquisition to concept integration through guided reflection and synthesis.
  8. Simulation learning is available in all levels of educational programs and in all health sciences disciplines.
  9. Simulation learning experiences include in-patient and out-patient scenarios.
