Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program
The death of a loved one can shatter life as we knew it. Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program of the University of Utah College of Nursing offers eight different eight-week bereavement support groups throughout the year. Each group is led by an expert professional in the area of grief and bereavement and tailored for a specific kind of loss, such as loss of a child, death of a loved one to suicide and death of a loved one to murder.
As a non-profit program, Caring Connections relies heavily on community support to assist grieving persons in our community and across Utah. Many of our participants find the $50 fee for eight weekly sessions cost prohibitive and are given scholarships. With the economic downturn and increased referrals from community agencies, Caring Connections is experiencing a growing demand for scholarships, without which, many individuals would be unable to participate. Educational materials such as our quarterly newsletter offer relevant stories and information for grieving individuals, and would also not be possible without the generous support of donors.
We invite you to join us in providing excellent bereavement care to individuals and families by supporting one of our areas two areas of most critical need:
1) Fund a scholarship for a grieving individual with limited financial resources to participate in an eight-week Caring Connections grief group: $50
2) Support the printing of Caring Connections' quarterly newsletter which includes educational resources and tips for grieving individuals: $250
Remember your loved one with a memory tile on the Caring Conenctions Memory Wall.
Located on the third floor of the College of Nursing building, the Memory Wall features handmade tiles commemorating friends or family members who have died.
This beautiful display is a lovely way to honor the memory of someone dear while supporting the programs of Caring Connections. Click here for the Memory Wall Order Form.
