Program Requirements

The Geriatric Nursing Leadership Program has been designed for working nurses. All students must be a currently licensed nurse before beginning the program. Students who are most successful are committed to furthering their education, self-directed and motivated.

  • Applicants must apply to both the University of Utah AND the College of Nursing.
  • Applicants must have completed an associate degree nursing program with an Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree, to include necessary lower-division prerequisite courses for the College of Nursing.
  • For applicants completing an Associate of Applied Science degree, additional coursework is required prior to admission.
  • A minimum grade point average (GPA) on all prerequisites: 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Successful completion of Advanced Placement Nursing Examinations for upper division credit after admission is required.
  • Complete application materials must be on file.
  • Current RN license at the time student begins the program.
