University of Utah Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence

Program of Study

The RN - BS program consists of four semesters of web-based coursework that can be completed within a flexible schedule convenient to the student, and three one-day, on-campus intensive sessions. The program begins in the fall, and completes the following December.

Students progress through the course as a distinct cohort, and work closely with faculty who are geriatric experts. Students are encouraged and challenged to reach their full potential.

Students work in partnership with local organizations to prepare for important leadership roles. Best Practices in Geriatric Nursing and Integrated Nursing Practice provide an opportunity to plan, develop and implement a workplace quality improvement project. Past projects have included:

  • Utah State Prison Infirmary Fire Evacuation Plan and Implementation
  • Improving Care of Assisted Living Facility Residents with Diabetes through CNA Education
