The Geriatric Nursing Leadership (GNL) Program is a specialty track within the University of Utah's on-line RN - BS program. The program, designed to improve geriatric nursing care, is innovative in its outcome of universally recognized credentials (a baccalaureate degree and/or preparation for national certification), targeting educational parity of nursing leadership with other leaders in long-term care.
Currently offered to registered nurses in Utah and the Intermountain West, students from around the state have enrolled in the program, and most plan on pursuing advanced education after completing their degree. The Geriatric Nursing Leadership program will serve as a feeder into the programs of the U of U Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence.
Highlights of the program include:

- Focus on the care of older adults in all settings

- Students progress as a distinct cohort
- Web-based coursework that can be completed within a flexible schedule
