DNP
Innovative learning.
Rewarding careers.
Congratulations DNP Hartford Geriatric Nursing Scholars: Juanita Allen, Penny Kaye Jensen and Blaine Winters!
The University of Utah Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence will offer geriatric specialty preparation to DNP students within our tradition of innovation in geriatric clinical practice, gerontology education, and aging research. Building on a commitment to universal geriatric education of all providers of adult clinical care, these nurse specialists will lead interdisciplinary practice and education of nurses to provide extraordinary health care to older adults.
Students who wish to focus in geriatrics/gerontology will incorporate courses in the master's gerontology certificate program or other designated aging coursework to graduate as experts in caring for older adults.
Individualized learning opportunities will provide rewarding career paths for graduates: faculty at community colleges and universities, nurse practitioners, administrators and leaders.
The following programs provide the option and potential stipend support for nurses to specialize in geriatrics.
- Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
- Gerontological/Adult Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
