Dr. Litchman received $30,000 from the University of Utah Diabetes and Metabolism Center for her project titled, Improving Clinical, Behavioral and Psychosocial Type 1 Diabetes Outcomes with an Online Peer Health Intervention: A Pilot Study.
The purpose of this project is to conduct a prospective study of a self-directed online PH intervention in which participants will seek information that is individualized and meaningful to them compared to usual care control subjects with Type 1 Diabetes. Dr. Litchman and her team’s hypothesis is that participants who engage in self-directed online peer health will have decreased diabetes distress, and increased problem-solving skills, social support, health-related quality of life and self-efficacy (secondary outcomes), resulting in improved patient activation and glycemic control (primary outcomes).
This study will be conducted from May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018. To learn more about Dr. Litchman click here.
