Types of Faculty Funding
Faculty funding is divided into three types, depending on the objectives of the project:
Research- Projects that aim to develop new knowledge or evaluate clinical, community, and educational programs.
Training- Projects with objectives to support current educational programs or to develop or evaluate educational interventions.
Practice- Projects that support directly or indirectly the delivery of nursing services to patient populations.
Sources of Faculty Funding
The three primary sources of faculty funding are:
Intramural- Grants and fellowships awarded internally from the College of Nursing following peer review by the Research Committee
Intermural- Grants awarded from entities in the University outside the College of Nursing
Extramural- Grants and contracts awarded from organizations external to the University of Utah
