Qualitative Health Research

Special Features of QHR

In addition to editorials and research articles, the journal also features articles falling into several special categories.

Exceptional and timely Keynote Addresses are published by invitation from the editor.

The section Pearls, Pith, and Provocation, edited by Dr. Anton J. Kuzel, Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University, USA, enhances communication of methodological advances derived from experience or insight, encourages the discussion of provocative ideas or nagging questions, and fosters debate about significant issues.

The Advancing Qualitative Methods section (for which the subject matter is self-evident) is edited by Dr. Joan Bottorff, University of British Columbia–Okanagan, British Columbia, Canada.

Teaching Matters, edited by Dr. Julianne Cheek, University of South Australia, promotes and discusses issues related to the teaching of qualitative methods and methodology.

In Knowledge Application, edited by Dr. Sally E. Thorne, University of British Columbia, Canada, we publish empirical articles addressing research integration and the translation of qualitatively-derived insights into decision making and health service policy planning.

Dr. Raymond Maietta, ResearchTalk, Inc. in New York, USA, is the editor of Computer Monitor. Articles related to computers and qualitative research are welcomed for consideration.

The editor of the Book Review section is Dr. Irena Madjar, University of Auckland in New Zealand. Reviews of books pertinent to qualitative methodology, health, or both, are welcomed for consideration.

Special Themed Issues

Each year approximately half of the issues of QHR are filled with articles based on special themes. Themed issues are usually alternated with general issues throughout the year.
