Deanna Kepka and Ana Sanchez-Birkhead received notice this week from President Ruth Watkins that they were awarded tenure and promotion. Both Ana and Deanna are associate professors in the College of Nursing.
Zoe Robbins will serve as a member of the Planning Committee for the 2020 Generations Conference. The University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute initiated the conference and conducts it in partnership with the Utah Division of Substance Abuse & Mental Health. The purpose of the conference is to join health and mental health professionals from Utah and contiguous states, to increase their knowledge of the behavioral health and substance use disorder issues facing today’s diverse society in order to develop and implement effective prevention and intervention / treatment programs and strategies. Ultimately, this step will create improvement in clinical practices and client care in individual and community practices / programs.
Marla DeJong has received a subcontract from the TriService Nursing Research Program via Geneva Foundation, where she will serve as a mentor for the principal Investigator, LTC Christopher Stucky. Marla will lend her expertise in perioperative communication in military medical center settings and support the project team during each phase in the grant life cycle, from idea and grant application to dissemination and grant close-out. The title of the grant is An Analysis of Perioperative Communication Patterns in a Large Military Medical Center.
Last Thursday, five of our undergraduate students presented their research at the Summer Semester Undergraduate Research Symposium under the mentorship of Laura Linder and Sara Simonsen, our faculty representatives for the University of Utah Honors Program. All five of these students are in the Honors Program and presented posters related to their thesis research:
