Dean Candidate Interviews:
Many thanks to faculty and staff who participated in the dean candidate interviews these past two weeks. We have four exceptional candidates who have spent time on our campus and are interested in assuming this vitally important leadership role. Our Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean of the School of Medicine, Dr. Michael Good, has a difficult decision in front of him!
Dr. Michelle Litchman will be presenting her research this week (Tuesday, January 21, 2020) at the Health Sciences Research Forum in the Clinical Neurosciences Center. As you may recall, Michelle recently published a paper on the underground exchange of insulin that is garnering national attention, including NPR Science, Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology, KUER, Deseret News, and Reuters among others.
Dr. Nancy Allen will be featured in marketing materials for her work with diabetes management in the Hispanic Community. This story will also be published in 360 Connect, a new in-house research publication that launches this week.

South Main Clinic IPE Group, including Abigail Rizk and Dr. Leissa Roberts:
The Academy of Health Science Educators’ Advancing Excellence in Education Committee has selected the South Main Clinical IPE group to receive the 2020 Interprofessional Education Team Award. In recognizing this team, Dr Rebecca Wilson, Director of the Academy of Health Science Educators and specialty director of the Nursing Education track at the College of Nursing, noted: “We were very impressed by your educational accomplishments and are excited to see how your team progresses. Your involvement in creating a culture of exceptional education in the University of Utah Health community is well deserved of recognition.” The team will be acknowledge at the Academy of health Science Educators Induction Ceremony on April 6, 2020.
