Susanna Cohen and Maddie Lassche:
Dr. Susanna Cohen and Maddie Lassche presented their work in simulation to the Dean’s Advancement Board last week. Susanna shared her efforts on community-based experiential learning titled, “How interprofessional simulation can improve the quality of individual, team and system care.” This highlighted Susanna’s work with using experiential learning for out-of-hospital births experiencing postpartum hemorrhage. Maddie presented her work with the Utah Simulation Coalition and on efforts to standardize simulation state-wide in Utah’s state-funded schools and programs.

Dr. Linda Edelman has been named to serve as a Geriatrics Research, Education and Clinical Advisory Subcommittee member to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Geriatrics and Gerontology Advisory Committee (GGAC). GGAC advises the Secretary of Veteran Affairs on issues related to care of older Veterans, as well as undertaking specific responsibilities, including assessments through an evaluation process (with site visits) of the VA Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Centers’ performance in fulfilling their mandated visions.
Dr. Kathy Sward has been appointed to serve with other University faculty under the direction of SVP Dan Reed on a campus taskforce to consider the future of our academic libraries with particular focus on: book acquisitions and University Press futures; open access and digital publication support; federal research mandates for open access and data retention; serials explosion, with journal and database prices increasing at non-sustainable rates, and; social change and expectations for information access and library usage.

Tamara Ekker was recently names as the chapter President of the Utah Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses!
Eric Kenney, IT Specialist SR. in Student Services, will be presenting at the Salesforce Higher Education Summit 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana in April. The title of his presentation is “College Admissions Decisions in Days Instead of Weeks: How-To Guide.”
