CON Strolls . . . . week one! Thanks to Clare Kranz for the great suggestion to capture faculty and staff enjoying the great outdoors. Keep those photos coming! Send to Clare Kranz @ Clare.Kranz@nurs.utah.edu by Thursday afternoon each week.
Ongoing thanks to our faculty practice providers. The College of Nursing has more than 50 providers and @20 nurses in ~25 sites; 11 of these are within UHealth, 7 include our contract with Juvenile Justice, and the remainder are in the community. These sites collectively provide over 50,000 yearly patient visits. THANK YOU for representing the college and the profession so honorably.
Deanna Kepka was informed by the Office for Global Engagement that she and her team were awarded $10,000 in funding for their GLAD proposal: Improving Health Providers’ Cultural and Linguistic Proficiency. The selection committee was particularly impressed with the focus on the local community, the broad impact regarding nursing students, pediatric residents, and internal medicine-pediatric residents; and the immersive experience for students and residents to apply what they learn in class. Other team members include Deb Penney, Sara Hart, and Jennifer Macali.
Katarina Friberg Felsted and the CON Resiliency Team:
Under Katarina’s direction as our Wellness Ambassador, our College of Nursing earned the highest rank of the Well Office Certification, Gold Level. This is awarded from the Office of Wellness and Integrative Health and reflects a variety of ways that the College supports and promotes wellness. Appointing a Wellness Ambassador and showing effective offerings and solutions in general wellness, nutrition, physical activity, mindset, and stress management/productivity are required.
We are grateful for the work of the Wellness Committee and the efforts of everyone through the College as we met this goal – we are excited to be Well Office Certified at the Gold Level.
