The Utah C-PopS (Caregiving Population Science) Research Group brings together scholars who would like to use population based data sources – particularly, the Utah Population Database – to do research on family caregiving.  This group has received IRB/RGE approval to do research on a cohort of decedents, linked to their first-degree family members.  This group has trained statisticians who helps the team write papers and grant proposals, as well as consult with new teams about how to use UPDB for family caregiving related topics.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Utah C-PoPS group is to advance understanding of how caregiving, family structure, and social and healthcare systems shape health outcomes across the life course. Through rigorous population-based research, we aim to generate evidence that informs equitable, person- and family-centered care for individuals facing serious illness, aging, and end-of-life transitions. We are committed to using data to drive policy, improve clinical practice, and support the well-being of both patients and their caregivers.
