What is Utah NEPQR?
The Utah Nurse Education, Practice, Quality & Retention (NEPQR) Program recruits and trains nursing students and current registered nurses from rural and underserved areas of Utah to practice at the full scope of their licenses. They become leaders of community-based, primary care teams in order to increase access to care, with particular emphasis on chronic disease prevention and control.
What We Do
Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the overarching purpose of this project is to recruit and train nursing students and current registered nurses (RNs) from rural and underserved areas of Utah to practice at the full scope of their licenses as members and leaders of community-based primary care teams in order to increase access to care, with particular emphasis on chronic disease prevention and control. The grant will work to develop partnerships in rural primary care clinics, reach out to students with a desire to improve access to rural healthcare, integrate primary care and population health into digital badge courses, and provide RNs in rural areas specialized learning communities.
