Increasing Behavioral Health Services in Underserved Communities
The NEPQR program aims to increase the access to and quality of behavioral health services through team-based care models in interprofessional nurse-led primary care teams in rural or underserved areas.
About Us
Funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), the overarching purpose of this project is to recruit and train nursing students and current registered nurses (RNs) from rural and underserved areas of Utah to practice at the full scope of their licenses as members and leaders of community-based primary care teams in order to increase access to care, with particular emphasis on chronic disease prevention and control. The grant will work to develop partnerships in rural primary care clinics, reach out to students with a desire to improve access to rural healthcare, integrate primary care and population health into digital badge courses, and provide RNs in rural areas specialized learning communities.
