College of Nursing Opportunities
The College of Nursing awards various scholarships for undergraduate students. Applications are administered during the admissions process. Scholarships extended to students at that time cover the entirety of the undergraduate program.
The College of Nursing offers training program opportunities based on available grant funding. Opportunities change over time. Inquire with undergraduate program faculty about current grants.
Mary Lou Pierce Peak was a 1949 graduate of the College of Nursing and served in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine in 1952 and specialized in pediatric, family primary care, and emergency medicine. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, friend, and physician who raised six children and practiced medicine for 48 years. She passed away on September 20, 2022, in Boise, Idaho surrounded by family and friends.
This scholarship was established in 2020 by the Pierce Parke Peak Family Foundation Inc. to support one College of Nursing student who demonstrates the greatest financial need, is a US Citizen or permanent resident, and is in good academic standing. Scholarship Award is $4,000.
University of Utah Campus Based Opportunities
The Alumni Association offers scholarships to the children and grandchildren of University of Utah alumni.
Various scholarships are available to incoming freshman, transfer, and continuing students.

The AORN Foundation awards scholarships to students who are pursuing a career in perioperative nursing, and to registered nurses who are continuing their education in perioperative nursing by pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree.
One of the Army Nurse Corps Association’s major initiatives is the Scholarship Program. Its purpose is the support of nursing education through scholarship funding to worthy students who are US citizens in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate nursing or anesthesia program.
The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN-Critical Care) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN-Colleges) are partnering to provide scholarships to prelicensure nursing students interested in practicing in critical care settings. Administered by the Foundation for Academic Nursing, the AACN2: Pathway to Critical Care Nursing Scholarship will provide $2,500 in support to eligible students enrolled in entry-level baccalaureate nursing programs who are committed to providing expert care to patients at their most vulnerable.

Cover your college education while gaining valuable leadership skills in Army ROTC with financial support from the Army.
Naval Nursing Opportunities including ROTC and Nurse Candidate Program (for students already in nursing programs).

Loan Repayment Programs
The PSLF Program is intended to encourage individuals to enter and continue to work full time in public service jobs. Under this program, borrowers may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance of their Direct Loans after they have made 120 qualifying payments on those loans while employed full time by certain public service employers.
You may be eligible to have all or a portion of your Federal Perkins Loan canceled (based on your employment or volunteer service) or discharged (under certain conditions).
This program provides loan repayment assistance to faculty members from economically and environmentally disadvantaged backgrounds with eligible health professions degrees or certificates to serve at eligible academic institutions. The goal of the program is to decrease the economic barriers associated with pursuing careers as academic faculty.
