Dual Women's Health/Midwifery Overview

The Dual Women's Health Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Midwifery graduate is prepared to:

  • Provide comprehensive, evidence-based care as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner by integrating theory, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to support the health of women and their families.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate population-specific healthcare strategies while applying leadership and ethical principles to influence policy and system-level change.
  • Adapt to the evolving healthcare environment and contribute to the advancement of the profession through lifelong learning, innovation, and scholarly engagement.
  • Provide advanced, evidence-based midwifery care to women, infants, and families by integrating theory, clinical expertise, and patient preferences in diverse and evolving healthcare settings.
  • Advance the midwifery profession through scholarly inquiry, professional adaptability, and active contribution to clinical innovation and organizational improvement.

Program Length

The Dual Women's Health/Midwifery Track is completed in 9 semesters

Mode

Hybrid (synchronous and asynchronous online learning with some on-campus activities required)

Clinical

Gain hands-on experience through 1200 Direct Patient Care Hours

Track Information

    Graduates are prepared to sit for national certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) and the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB). Upon successful completion of the exam, candidates are eligible to become certified or licensed to practice.

    Accreditation

    The Certified Nurse-Midwifery track of the DNP Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME).
