Refugee Health Mentorship Program

PI: Dr. Diane Chapman; In collaboration with University of Utah College of Nursing and the International Rescue Committee of Salt Lake City. 

This program pairs nursing students with refugee families to provide in-home health education and support. By fostering personal connections and offering tailored health guidance, the program aims to enhance the overall well-being of refugee families, empower them with knowledge and skills for managing their health, and bridge cultural and language gaps in healthcare access. This hands-on experience also enriches the students' education, preparing them for diverse healthcare environments.

Health Inequity in Cervical Cancer Control Among US Refugee Women

This study described cervical cancer control practices from common countries of origin for women who resettle in the United States as refugees to highlight this persistent health inequity.
