Global Learning Opportunities for Students

Global learning experiences are often interdisciplinary and enriched by collaborations within the College of Nursing, Spencer Fox School of Medicine, and through Learning Abroad in the campus Office of Global Engagement. Our faculty and staff are committed to supporting students’ engagement in bidirectional global learning experiences both at home and abroad. Global learning opportunities include, but are not limited to, engaging in study abroad experiences, attending global health speaker series, collaborating locally with cross-cultural community groups, completing collaborative online transcultural education, and completing the inter professional Global Health Certificate offered through the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.

Global learning experiences have potential to:

  • Promote global awareness and understanding of different cultures
  • Prepare students to become responsible, knowledgeable, and open-minded global citizens
  • Evoke curiosity about the influence of global challenges on local contexts
  • Seek to address the most pressing global challenges with collaborative and equitable strategies
  • Prepare leaders who are responsive to differing perspectives and avid advocates for social justice
