SLCC Express Pathway
Bridge Your Education
The Express Pathway is a bridge program allowing students enrolled in Salt Lake Community College’s (SLCC) associate degree nursing program to seamlessly enter the University of Utah College of Nursing Online RN to BS track.
Dual Enrollment Option
- Exclusive to Express Pathway students
- Individual program plans created with RN-BS advisor
- Add 1-2 online bachelor’s degree classes to your 3rd and 4th semesters at SLCC
- Get a head start while still at SLCC, then finish in a few as 2 semesters
*Students must complete prerequisites to begin core classes
*To continue into RN-BS program, students must graduate from SLCC nursing program and pass the NCLEX.
Post-Graduation Option
- Those who choose not to take the dual enrollment option will still enjoy timely completion of their BSN
- Students have up to 3 semesters to start the RN-BS program after graduating from SLCC
- Complete the program in 2, 3 or 4 semesters
- Students must pass the NCLEX prior to the start of their 1st semester to qualify for the 2-semester track
Program Qualifications & Applications
- Enrolled in Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing at SLCC
- 3.0 Prerequisite GPA
- 3.3 nursing program GPA
- General education
- GE does not need to be compete during application and may be embedded in your individual program of study
- Prerequisites:
- Human Anatomy
- Human Physiology
- Elementary Chemistry
- Statistics
- Human Growth and Development
- Microbiology
- Pathophysiology
- Nutrition Intervention (embedded in SLCC nursing program)
- Prerequisites do not need to be complete during application, only before starting core RN-BS classes
- Prerequisites do not expire
Express Pathway Application
- Unofficial transcripts from all colleges and/or universities
- Access through College of Nursing website
U of U application
- Apply only when you know which semester you wish to start (applications are only good for one semester at a time)
- Application type
- Transfer
- 2nd bachelors (if you have a previous degree)
- Returning (if you have taken U of U courses prior)
- Official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities
- Choose “Uonline” from campus drop-down menu
- Choose “pre-nursing” as area of focus (full major status in nursing will be declared as part of onboarding process)
- U of U application deadlines:
- Fall: April 1
- Spring: November 1
- Summer: March 1
