Sara Bybee, PhD, LCSW, Assistant Professor at the University of Utah College of Nursing, was one of six top U of U Health researchers recognized at this year’s Vitae event. Researchers honored at the event deliver TED-talk-style presentations that highlight how their research addresses health issues.
Bybee’s talk, The Wealth-Health Connection: How Economic Factors Shape Wellbeing, focused on two key areas of research. The first examines how housing instability affects the health of low-income Utahns, highlighting the significant role non-medical factors play in shaping health outcomes.
The second area centers on developing a tool to measure financial hardship among individuals living with dementia and their care partners—an effort aimed at identifying financial strain early and mitigating its impact on physical and mental health.
