Faculty and Staff Promotion, Retention, and Reappointment

Based on a formal review and accomplishments, the following individuals have been promoted, awarded tenure, reappointed, or retained in the College of Nursing, effective July 1, 2025:

  • Dr. Sharifa Al-Qaaydeh was reappointed to the academic rank of Associate Professor (Clinical)
  • Dr. Nancy Allen was promoted to the academic rank of Professor
  • Dr. Lisa Barry was promoted to the academic rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical)
  • Adrienne Bott was promoted to Administration Manager for Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program
  • Dr. Ann Butt was promoted to the academic rank of Professor (Clinical)
  • Dr. Diane Chapman was promoted to the academic rank of Associate Professor (Clinical)
  • Dr. Sue Chase-Cantarini was promoted to the academic rank of Professor (Clinical)
  • Dr. Sheila Deyette was reappointed to the academic rank of Associate Professor (Clinical)

Student Recognition

Rachael Alexander – a student enrolled in the dual Doctor of Philosophy–Doctor of Nursing Practice program, specializing in Family Primary Care – received two major scholarships.

  • The Nurses Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) named Rachael Alexander a 2025-2026 NEF Scholar and awarded her the $8,000 Terry Fulmer Scholarship. Named in honor of Dr. Terry Fulmer, a renowned leader in geriatric nursing and a Living Legend of the American Academy of Nursing, NEF awards the Terry Fulmer Scholarship to graduate nursing students who focus their study on nursing homes and long-term care. This scholarship celebrates Rachael’s commitment to excellence in advancing the equitable care of older adults with cancer and their families through leadership, innovative research, compassionate practice, and impactful advocacy.
  • The Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) awarded Rachael Alexander a $7,500 Doctoral Scholarship. Supported by the ONF, the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation, and the Ann Olson Scholarship Fund, the scholarship recognizes Rachael’s pursuing both clinical and research doctoral degrees, which exemplifies her passion for improving cancer care, exceptional potential to drive transformative change in the field, and steadfast dedication to enhancing oncology nursing through research, practice, and education. 

Community Outreach

Dr. Jacob Steenblik and a team from the John A. Moran Eye Center traveled to the Navajo Nation, treated patients for cataracts, and provided eye care to 124 patients. 

Presentation

Dr. Sara Hart, Kathryn Sexson, Connie Perkins, Hui Zhao, Nannette Cowen, Tanya Seward, Andra Davis, and Jennifer Mongoven delivered a virtual poster presentation titled Family Caregiving Competencies for Nursing Education: Course and Curricular Integration at the 17th International Family Nursing Conference in Perth, Australia.
