Heidi Favero appointed as the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) Specialty Track Director

Heidi Favero has been appointed as the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) Specialty Track Director at the University of Utah College of Nursing (CON), effective December 1, 2024. Favero's extensive 25-year clinical experience and expertise enhance the AG-ACNP program. Her wealth of knowledge and skills contribute to advancing student learning and improving health outcomes for individuals and communities. Favero's leadership and clinical proficiency align with the program's goals of preparing graduates to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care. 

“Dr. Favero’s expertise in acute and critical care, combined with her extensive experience working with diverse patient populations, provides our students with the critical knowledge and competencies needed to navigate and make an impact in an increasingly complex healthcare landscape,” said Julie Gee, PhD, MSNEd, RN, Associate Dean of Academic Programs at the CON. “We are delighted Dr. Favero has accepted this appointment.” 

Favero has been a member of the CON faculty for several years and views teaching as helping her future colleagues evolve into becoming successful providers. “The impact AG-ACNP providers have in caring for acutely and critically ill is profound,” said Favero. “I’m eager to continue working alongside our talented faculty, staff, and students to further enhance the program’s contributions to health care education and practice. Together, we will prepare future providers to deliver exceptional care, adapt to the complexities of acute and critical care, and uphold the College of Nursing’s commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing health equity.” 

Favero is an associate professor (clinical) at the CON and has served as interim AG-ACNP track director.  She earned her associate and bachelor of science degrees in nursing at Weber State University. Favero completed her DNP degree from the University of Utah and is a board-certified AG-ACNP.
