Amanda Keddington, DNP, MSN Ed, RN, CCRN, OCN, NPD-BC, has been appointed as the Director of the RN to BSN track at the University of Utah College of Nursing effective May 2, 2025.

Keddington’s leadership will guide faculty, students, and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curricula and program policies, while also supporting student recruitment, admissions, and retention efforts. She will collaborate with community partners to facilitate clinical placements and ensure the continued strength of the RN to BSN track.

She succeeds Sue Chase-Cantarini, DNP, RN, who held the position for eight years. Dr. Chase-Cantarini's leadership and steadfast commitment to student success significantly shaped the RN to BSN track. During her tenure, the program broadened its curriculum, reinforced its academic foundation, and empowered nurses to grow as leaders in their field. Her lasting contributions have left a meaningful mark on the program and on the many students and colleagues she supported.

Keddington’s appointment represents an exciting new chapter that builds on a strong foundation while advancing the program’s mission and impact. “Dr. Keddington’s remarkable ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and clinical partners and her unwavering commitment to student success make her an outstanding choice for RN-to-BSN Director,” said Julie Gee, PhD, MSNEd, RN, associate dean for academic affairs. “We are confident that her innovative approaches and dedication will further elevate the quality of the RN-to-BSN track and enhance student outcomes.”

With extensive clinical and academic experience, Keddington brings expertise in critical care, oncology, professional development, and nursing education. Her work in curriculum design and faculty mentorship is grounded in evidence-based teaching practices and a deep commitment to student-centered learning.

“The RN to BSN track addresses a critical need in enhancing Utah’s nursing workforce, particularly as healthcare settings require more advanced skills, leadership, and adaptability,” said Keddington. “Our program offers a unique opportunity for nurses to gain the skills and knowledge that are in high demand across the healthcare industry. I look forward to building on our program’s solid foundation, equipping students with the skills they need to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment and become leaders in the field.”

In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Keddington will continue to teach in the RN to BSN track and contribute to other nursing programs within the college. Her appointment reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen academic leadership and advance the College of Nursing’s mission to prepare highly skilled, practice-ready nurses.
